The Software Development Engineer II is part of the Delivery Platform team within our Product & Technology division. This team is responsible for CI/CD the ecosystem of over 20000 applications being built and deployed by Expedia Group. In this role, you will directly contribute to and support our CI/CD tooling and applications such as GitHub Workflows and Spinnaker.
In this role, you will:
Work on cutting edge technology for the providing world class CI/CD experience for Expedia, including exposure to open source tech.
Think broadly and understand how, why and when policies/processes are standardized and when they differ across the organization.
Build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area.
Seek knowledge from subject matter experts when needed.
Understands the importance of system and technology integration and the basic features and facilities involved in the integration process.
Develop and test software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.
Help coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions to issues.
Proactively reach out to meet peers across environment and collaborate to solve problems.
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Masters in a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or related experience
Proficient with object oriented programming languages such as Java, Python, or Kotlin
Able to identify strengths and weaknesses among languages for particular use cases.
Experience working with AWS products (e.g. EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda serverless functions)
Experience with containerized applications and container orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes, Helm, Operator pattern
Understands the SDLC and Agile development methodology
Have an understanding of a CI/CD framework to automate builds, test, and deploy.
Comfortable with developer tools like GitHub, Jenkins
Understands observability fundamentals like metrics, logging, tracing
Experience with service mesh like Istio, Linkerd is a plus
Experience working with Spinnaker plugins and pipelines is a plus
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
