Principal Designer

The Solids Handling Designer/Modeller is responsible for creating detailed 2D/3D models and engineering drawings for bulk solids handling systems used in industries such as power, mining, cement, chemical, oil & gas, and waste management. The role involves developing layouts, equipment models, and general arrangement drawings while collaborating with mechanical engineers and other multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. 3D Modelling & Drafting

  • Develop detailed 3D models of bulk solids handling equipment such as:
    • Belt conveyors
    • Screw conveyors
    • Bucket elevators
    • Silos, bins, and hoppers
    • Vibrating feeders
    • Pneumatic conveying lines
    • Crushers, screens, and material transfer points
  • Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings

2. Layout & Design Development

  • Create plant layouts for solids handling systems ensuring:
  • Perform equipment spacing, routing, and interference checks (clash detection).

3. Coordination & Interface

  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Mechanical engineers
    • Structural & civil teams
    • Electrical & instrumentation teams
    • Process engineers
  • Participate in model reviews and incorporate comments.

4. Standards & Documentation

  • Ensure drawings comply with:
    • Company and client standards
    • Industry codes (CEMA, DIN, ISO, etc.)
  • Maintain drawing revision control and documentation accuracy.

5. Tools & Software

Experience typically required in:

  • AVEVA E3D / PDMS
  • S3D
  • Navisworks for model review and clash check
