Walmart Global Tech's Site Reliability Engineering team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Distinguished Software Engineer directly reporting to Sr. Director of Engineering. In this individual contributor role, you are expected to be hands-on coding. Also, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of our products and systems. with responsibilities including leading the creation and maintenance of technical architecture, aligning it with business goals and scalability requirements, and architecting complex software systems to ensure performance, security, and scalability needs are met. Additionally, the role involves providing hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and establishing and enforcing coding standards through thorough code reviews

What you'll do:

This is a vital role with significant growth prospect. You will have work to do from day one and you will be counted on to create opportunities that aligns with the overall organization goals. Some of this role key responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Architectural Leadership: Lead the creation and maintenance of our front-end and full-stack technical architecture, aligning it with business goals and scalability requirements.

  • System Design and Scalability: Architect complex software systems, ensuring performance, security, and scalability needs are met.

  • Technical Guidance and Mentoring: Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, UX/UI, Quality Assurance, DevOps, and engineering.

  • Code Review and Standards: Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices through thorough code reviews.

  • Innovation and Research: Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, conducting research to identify emerging tools and methodologies.

  • Project Management and Delivery: Collaborate with project managers to define project scopes, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with architectural goals.

  • Collaborative Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, promoting a culture of open communication and collaboration.

What you'll bring:

Some of the skills needed for this role are but not limited to:

  • Extensive experience in mobile and web development with React, React Native, and Node.js.

  • Extensive experience in automated testing of mobile and web applications

  • Extensive experience in the design, development, and delivery of software products with a large user base.

  • A clear vision for front-end and full-stack architecture design and effective communication skills to articulate that to all levels of stakeholders.

  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to balance conflicting interests in a complex and fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding of distributed technologies, public cloud technologies, scalable platforms, full stack development, ML- platforms, NLU, Generative AI and Operational Excellence.

  • Strong skills in Data Modeling of a complex domain.

  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams.

  • Business acumen; combining technical vision with business insights.
