Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) is looking for highly skilled and adaptable Senior Project Engineers to join our team in Albuquerque, NM., to provide project leadership to multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems.
The selected Project Engineer will provide engineering project leadership to a highly technical development team. Position Responsibilities:
Provide the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers
Develop statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements
Work with customers and management to obtain approval
Respond to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs, and schedules
Lead project execution to complete the work statement
Identify performance metrics
Plan, identify, and coordinate resources required over the life of the project or program
Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity
Compare actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned
Provide technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
Work under minimal direction
Occasional travel as needed
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Senior (Level 4) Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 7+ years of related work experience or PhD and 4+ years of related work experience (i.e., engineering experience)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Proficient at costing, scheduling, detailed program planning, risk management, subcontract management, earned value reporting and proposal response preparation
Self starter with essential multi-tasking skills and the ability to perform in an environment with minimal supervision and guidance
Able to effectively interact throughout all levels of the organization and customer community and manage diverse cross functional teams comprised of exempt, nonexempt and hourly personnel
Requires exceptional interpersonal and organization skills in conjunction with excellent written and oral communication capabilities
Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance or equivalent
BSEE/BSME, MSEE/MSME/MBA desirable and/or demonstrated equivalent years of experience within the military aerospace industry
Knowledge of Electro-Optical and/or Laser System Development
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
