Job Description:

Your new role

NDT Welding Inspector

Eastleigh

18-month FTC

£40,151 per annum

Operate as a member of a dedicated team of NDT Inspectors across several UK sites performing a variety of inspection & regulatory activities within the car body manufacturing or TMC areas in line with their skills, competency, experience and qualifications. Duties include (Training will be provided where required):

  • Carryout visual weld inspections in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 17367, BS EN 15085, BS EN 3834 and BS EN ISO 10042.

  • Carry out PT inspections of welds when required in accordance with BS EN ISO 3452-1 and BS EN ISO 23277.

  • Carry out UT inspection of welds when required in accordance with BS EN ISO 17640 and BS EN ISO 11666.

  • Regulatory sign-off of QC technician inspection reports.

  • Carry out dimensional/fit surveys on joint preparation prior to and post welding activities.

  • Creation of inspection & non-conformance documentation.

  • Evaluate NDT results and make accurate accept/reject decisions in accordance with appropriate acceptance standards.

  • Conduct fabrication inspection at all stages of build processes as per the hold or witness points stipulated within the QCP (Quality Control Plan) & in accordance with the PM (Process Master).

  • Prepare detailed In-process inspection reports from joint setup or weld inspection activities undertaken.

  • Review of all NDT related documentation before submission to the RWC (Responsible Welding Coordinator) Team.

  • Attendance of daily cross-functional meetings as the assigned representative of the NDT/QC group.

  • Training the wider QC NDT Inspector group in application & upkeep of developed Inspection / test procedures and working methods.

  • For tasks, you are fully compliant, qualified & competent in, checking, overseeing and signing off of work done by others at a lower competence level.

  • Assistance in the training & development of colleagues and wider QC NDT group in line with your own knowledge & competence level.

  • Ensure all non-conformances are identified, controlled and recorded in the business system, provide evidence to support nonconformity and effective close out.

  • Support QC Eng. /RWC investigations into & resolution of identified non-conformances, including support to development & verification of countermeasure(s) & their confirmation at source including PPS (Practical Problem Solving) activities.

  • Support in-process (DWI) audits in line with RWC/NDT Level III scheduling.

About you

  • CSWIP 3.1Welding Inspector (VT).

  • Penetrant testing (PT) CSWIP Level 2.

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) 3.1 & 3.7 CSWIP.

  • CSWIP Level 2 Eddy Current Inspection of Ferritic Welds.
