Position Summary

Perform innovative data analyses on neuroimaging and related data. Develop and implement computer algorithms for analyzing that data. Assume major responsibility for software and hardware development and implementation in a neuroimaging-focused, neuroscience lab.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply advanced statistical and analytical approaches to neuroimaging and related data using MATLAB tools and R routines for the purpose of analyzing neuroimaging data.
  • Design, develop, and implement computer algorithms and software for analyzing functional and structural MRI data of the brain and maintain data analysis programs developed over time for those data for neuroimaging-related neuroscience research purposes.
  • Evaluate and resolve software problems for both existing and developing analysis streams for the purpose of processing and analyzing neuroimaging data.
  • Prepare program descriptions and documentation both for newly developed and existing analysis software for the purpose of processing and analyzing neuroimaging data.
  • Assume major/exclusive responsibilities for software development and effective implementation of the software for the purpose of processing and analyzing neuroimaging data.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, or repair a mix of both standard and customized equipment to include both equipment used during MRI scanning and equipment used outside of the scanner for subject training and testing for the purpose of conducting neuroimaging-related neuroscience studies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with standard computer programming languages (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, csh, bash), statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, R), psychological testing tools (Eprime, psychtoolbox) and neuroimaging software packages (FSL, SPM, FreeSurfer, AFNI and 3D Slicer).
  • Willingness and ability to make programs useful for researchers with varying levels of computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and be adept at interacting with individuals from a wide range of research labs in Neurology, Psychology, Psychiatry, Radiology and Neuroscience.
  • Ability to design new hardware and modify existing hardware for the presentation of auditory and visual stimuli and the recording of vocal and motor responses.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
