The opportunity 
 
At Hitachi Energy Research near Zurich, you’ll join a diverse team of passionate scientists shaping the future of power grids. In our System Integration and Physics Group, we explore how to make energy systems smarter, greener, and more flexible. You’ll work on real-world challenges, supported by experienced mentors in a collaborative, international environment. This internship is your chance to grow, contribute, and be part of something meaningful. 

How you’ll make an impact 

• Experimental verification of a new sensor technology 

• Build multi-physics models to validate experimental data 

• Collaborate with experts across disciplines 

• Present your progress and results 

• Write clear and concise technical reports 

• Contribute to scientific publications 

• Learn from a global team of researchers 

• Support innovation in sustainable energy systems 

Your background

• Currently pursuing an MSc degree in physics, electrical or mechanical engineering or a similar subject 

• Solid understanding of partial differential equations, electromagnetics, and thermal physics 

• Interest in lab work and hands-on experimentation as well as experience with Matlab, Python or Comsol for modeling and simulation 

• Enthusiastic, motivated and curious team player with good organizational skills 

• Fluent in English, written and spoken 

• Available for 6 months, with possible extension
