About the team and the role:
Have you ever wanted to work on a platform that creates more than 10 million new e-commerce listings per day? It’s what we do for a living! Without us, there’d be nothing for sale on eBay and we need your help to make it even better. In an effort to radically improve eBay’s selling experience, we are seeking a talented, creative and passionate Front End Software Engineer to architect, design and develop innovative, highly performant, highly available software in the form of cross browser web UI applications. Our technical work spans rich interactions and server side Node.js applications to integrate with web services and applications across various device form factors that help sellers worldwide to on-board, manage and grow their business on the largest global marketplace.
What you will accomplish:
Design and develop eBay web applications using JavaScript, Node.js while working in an Agile Scrum team.
Analyze and improve the speed, efficiency, scalability, stability, availability and security of customer facing applications
Develop documentation and test infrastructure necessary to reach production level readiness
Write automation tests in JavaScript using automation frameworks for front end applications
Work with product, business unit and UI design partners to understand product requirements and translate it into engineering requirements
Estimate engineering effort; plan, implement, and roll out system changes. Identify project technical risks and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
What you will bring:
BS or higher AND 5 - 8 years of experience architecting, designing and developing high volume and highly interactive web applications in an agile environment that works across browsers and device types.
Solid experience in server side Node.js web application development coupled with advanced knowledge and experiences of HTML, CSS, REST, advanced Javascript development.
Experience with Javascript frameworks (ie, React, Vue, Svelte, SolidJS, Marko, etc) in an agile environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and the confidence to question where necessary
