PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Market Manager is responsible for managing the ongoing alignment between the company’s products and services with the needs, trends, and preferences of assigned markets and/or market segments. The Market Manager possesses a deep understanding of assigned markets and segments to develop effective go to market plans and productization of offerings (defining portfolio) that drive increasing market share for Viking Pump.  The Market Manager leverages credible resources and relationships to maintain a high level of awareness and familiarity of key (80’) internal and external influencers – including operations capabilities, economic shifts, compliance and regulatory issues and relevant technology advances. The Market Manager will work in partnership with Product Managers, Engineering, and Marketing teams to feed product innovation pipeline, support pricing decisions, establish strategic campaign plans.  The primary function will be the development and implementation of marketing plans, strategic objectives, and pricing which maximize Viking’s sales, profitability, and approvals in the respective market segment while effectively utilizing the company’s resources and capabilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned markets/market segments and related product/services offerings for internal and external audiences.

  • Works with internal and external research sources to maintain accurate market and market segment profiles to drive decision-making; commissions/conducts primary research as needed – MARKET MAPS

  • Join key industry associations and participate on committees. Engage customers and industry partners on social media

  • Develops effective productization/product packaging and go to market plans for assigned markets and segments; serves as a primary content resource for the
    development of key audience personas – AD’s, VIDEOS, LITERATURE

  • Conducts continuous market monitoring and impact analysis of needs, trends, compliance, and other key influencers; proactively recommends corrective action when appropriate.

  • Collaborates with branding/communications and demand generation counterparts in the creation and development of market facing campaigns; serves as a primary content and subject resource for thought leadership and demand generation efforts – CRM CAMPAIGNS

  • Responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting for all economic, industry, market and competitive data/activity for the segment

  • Coordinates with Product Managers to provide direction and priority setting for the segment’s Technical/R&D projects that align with established strategies

  • Development of a SWOT analysis and brand position strategy for the various sub-segments 

  • Identifies and quantities new business opportunities that align with Viking’s existing and future product/technology capabilities

  • Utilizes and embraces new Digital Selling tools to support Viking Pump and our customers.

  • Organize and executes sales/demand creation campaigns within respective markets/segments. Collects, validates and assigns leads for follow-up and closure.

  • Provides leadership and direction to the inside sales teams on extended customer prospecting, development, and commercialization that aligns with established strategies

  • Work with inside sales team to develop new business opportunities

  • Coordination of large national and multi-national customers & prospects

  • Works with industry specifiers (Contractors and Engineering Firms) to obtain approvals and placement on approved vendor lists

  • Gather and analyze customer insight to nurture and enrich all external perceptions of the company and growth of the market segment

  • Manage other duties or projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4-year College Degree – Engineering or Business preferred, or equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 5 + years of experience in strategic marketing and/or product management

  • A minimum of 5+ years of B2B and B2C selling experience  

  • Demonstrated capability understanding and distilling technology and market trends, and strategically planning future product opportunities.

  • Prior experience with Positive Displacement Pump technology and/or Chemical fluid movement devise sales preferred.

  • Proven track record in growth-focused sales mentality, including supporting product launch, commercialization, and strategic planning.

  • Strong change management skills and experience.

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills and experience translating plans into commercially successful and profitable strategies

  • Strong financial acumen; able to understand impact of negotiation points on a business engagement.

  • Understanding of 80/20 process and implementation.

  • Up to 50% travel required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in selling and/or commercializing products that serve the Chemical and Agricultural Based Liquids industries a plus.

  • Pump experience is ideal

  • Strong customer/quality orientation with demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage customer and partner relationships

  • Metrics and data driven with exceptional skill managing a team with influence to over achieve objectives based on sound commercial processes and through the deployment of continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (inclusive of virtual business environments).

  • Executive presence; capacity to promote enthusiasm and gain support through strong verbal, written and presentation communications skills.

  • Strong personal drive and motivation to reach new objectives and drive growth.

  • Ability to thrive amidst change and ambiguity, and help others with the same.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, distributors, resellers, and all levels of internal corporate and company personnel.

  • Requires frequent contact with end customers and channel partners, and internal Viking Pump personnel.
