GEICO is seeking a dynamic and visionary professional to join our Exchange Marketplace and Customer Self-Servicing Engineering team. This team is focused on developing the inaugural version of a marketplace designed to streamline the onboarding of insurance partners while delivering tailored offerings and accurate quotes to customers. Additionally, the team will play a pivotal role in enhancing customer self-service capabilities to elevate the overall user experience.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, solution-oriented, and passionate about continuous learning and adopting new tools and techniques. In this role, you will design and deliver a centralized, secure marketplace platform and associated tools to collect, manage, and analyze user data from diverse sources. These efforts will drive the creation of personalized, data-driven insurance products and services.

You will leverage advanced technologies, including metering, telemetry, and streaming, to enhance risk assessment and customer engagement through real-time data collection, storage, and analysis. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of data-driven innovation in the insurance industry.

We are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to drive innovation, enhance systems, and lead the execution of technical roadmaps that accelerate product delivery and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for mentorship and leadership.

What candidate will do:

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with the roadmap and deliver impactful solutions.

· Strengthen engineering culture through quality, monitoring, and on-call practices.

· Mentor and guide engineers, driving excellence and efficiency.

· Lead organizational initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide technical and thought leadership across multiple domains.

· Develop and execute technical roadmaps to enhance product delivery and engineering capabilities.

· Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to tackle critical problems.

· Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of technical solutions.

· Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering best practices and continuous improvement.

· Optimize operational processes, forecast costs, and align with business goals.

· Lead organizational initiatives, sharing insights and improving processes across teams.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; advanced degree preferred.

· Expertise in building large-scale, distributed systems using modern languages (Java, or go) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

· Proficiency in microservices, REST APIs, and DevOps practices, with knowledge of security protocols.

· Experience with AI/ML integration, data-driven architectures, and monitoring tools.

· Strong ability to design scalable systems, decompose complex problems, and execute roadmaps for growth.

· Proven track record of mentoring teams and influencing stakeholders.

Experience

· 10+ years of professional software development experience in one or more programming languages (Java / C# / Go) and object-oriented design.

· 8+ years of experience in system architecture and design.

· 6+ years of full-stack service development experience.

· 4+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or equivalent.


 

Annual Salary

$115,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
