Caterpillar’s BCP Technology, Controls & Advanced Engineering is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Advanced Engineering Team of Caterpillar's Building Construction Products (BCP) division.  

 

In this position, the successful candidate will be leading a team of highly technical, product development professionals to identify, test, and proof-of-concept new technologies that support BCP product groups’ multi-generational product plans (MGPPs) and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.  Although not exclusively constrained to the following areas, these new technologies will be heavily related to automation, connectivity, and electrification.  The successful candidate will also be adept at establishing and growing relationships throughout the rest of Caterpillar and the Caterpillar supply base to leverage investments effectively and ensure the best possible customer solutions are achieved. 

Degree requirement: Bachelors in engineering

Travel: 10-25% as needed.  

 

What You’ll Do (Job Duties) 

  • Provide strategic vision and multi-generation product planning of new technologies across multiple prime machine product lines. 

  • Develop emerging technologies and guide technology selections based on customer value, technology maturity, and return on investment. 

  • Prioritize programs and daily activities based on customer value, business impact, technical risks, and overall timelines. 

  • Be a model for high quality, high velocity technical achievements while also coordinating, aligning, and leveraging enterprise strategies and investments. 

  • Identify, track, and actively communicate industry developments and trends to both technical and commercial teams. 

  • Develop strong relationships with product groups, system engineering, supply management, and the enterprise technical engineering community. 

  • Develop a team of highly independent, deep technical experts within Advanced Engineering of the division. 

 

 What You Have (Core Skills) 

  • Planning: Experience in machine product design, system design with components integration and/or product validation. 

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to identify and create value that delivers a high return on investment for customers. 

  • Technical Excellence: Previous and direct experience in automation, onboard software & control systems, electrical system development, connectivity, and/or electrification. 

  • Customer/Market Focus: Ability to leverage enterprise investments and align with corporate strategies 

  • Collaborating Globally: Ability to communicate, collaborate, and build trust across a wide and diverse range of people – customers, dealers, product specialists, internal partners, technicians, engineers, direct reports, and leaders. 

  • Influencing Through Expertise: Previous experience in delivery of systems and products from inception to the customer.  

 

Top Candidates Will Also Have  

  • Experience as an established, successful leader with demonstration of your capability to lead, motivate and influence directly and indirectly. 

  • Prior team leadership and people development skills. 

  • Previous experience in delivery of systems and products from inception to the customer.  

Summary Pay Range:

$156,000.00 - $234,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
