Job Description Summary:

A postdoctoral fellowship is available to enhance research capacity in interventional healthcare delivery research, clinical practice change and mixed-method implementation science. Fellowship will provide the successful candidate with opportunity to engage in mentored research, gaining experience in primary qualitative data collection, integrative data analysis (mixed methods), implementation science and evaluation, manuscript preparation, knowledge translation and dissemination through clinical community engagement.

The Fellow will join a two-state research team, led jointly by Dr. Lee and Bijal Balasubramanian, launching an NCI U01-funded pragmatic trial to enhance primary care practice capacity for cancer survivorship care in federally qualified health centers and other community health clinics serving minoritized, under- and uninsured individuals.

Based in Kansas City, the fellowship is sponsored by Simon Craddock Lee, PhD MPH, Chair of the Department of Population Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) School of Medicine. The Department provides a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment. While our faculty draw from different scholarly disciplines, we share a common goal of remediating health disparities across Kansas and beyond. In addition to a record of partnership with state and regional health authorities, our faculty have long-standing collaborations with many community and clinical partners in both urban and rural locations, providing a rich environment for impactful implementation science and community-engaged research. The Department is the academic home for graduate education leading to the MHSA, MPH, MSCR, and PhD. Opportunities for limited teaching are possible.

The Department is home to a newly established, NIH-funded Implementation Science for Equity Center for Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE). Additional collaborating institutional partners based at KUMC include:
• The University of Kansas Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
• The Kansas Center for Rural Health
• NCATS-funded Frontiers Clinical & Translational Institute

Terms of the Fellowship. The fellowship is a one-year full-time position, with potential for extension, subject to performance review. Salary begins at $65,000 (subject to relevant work experience and/or years post-PhD), with full benefits. Anticipated start date July 1, 2024 (negotiable). Periodic work travel to Texas is required.
