Job Purpose:

Inspire & empower excellence in health, safety and environmental sustainability in Aliaxis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate a compelling vision
    • Articulate “business case” for HSE excellence, linked to Aliaxis values & priorities.
    • Develop a common understanding of what excellence looks like.
  • Develop strategies & plans aligned with Aliaxis global strategy
    • Facilitate development of an HSE strategy & action plan that reflect the risk profile, stakeholder expectations and is consistent with Group strategy.
    • Ensure EHS goals & objectives are embedded in job description/expectations of each employee.
  • Risk management
    • Ensure action plans to reduce risk & impacts are in line with hierarchy of control.
    • Ensure Document Unique is maintained in place and controls are applied.
  • Enhance leadership competencies
    • Train & coach business leaders to enable them to effectively lead & manage HSE within their areas of responsibility.
    • Ensure an effective HSE onboarding programme is in place for new starters.
  • Provide expert advice
    • Advise business on improving performance, eg on managing key risks, developing business processes, and creating a strong HSE culture.
    • Advise on HSE investment proposals to ensure effective prioritisation of resources.
    • Coach analyses of incidents to ensure effective learning and action planning.
  • Share-in & share-out
    • Maintain positive & proactive communications with local HSE authorities
    • Identify & communicate learnings & good practices from inside & outside Okondo.
    • Create pride in achievements to help motivate further improvement.
  • Analyse performance data
    • Put in place metrics & business processes, and analyse data to identify risks, trends & opportunities.
    • Monitor progress on legal compliance, risk management, capability building, and culture development.

Required experience & knowledge:

  • University degree in HSE or related discipline + professional qualifications in health & safety and environment.
  • Understand the business, French legislation and stakeholder requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of current good practice in HSE management, including:
    • Assessment & control of relevant HSE risks & impacts;
    • HSE management systems & business processes, including ISO 45001 & ISO 14001.
    • Application of sustainability to different aspects of Aliaxis business;
    • HSE culture development.
  • Experience of:
    • Driving behavioural change in a complex, large organisation.
    • Leading teams & developing people.
