Job Description: Operations Supervisor

Outerspace is a new type of Ops Center. We come from the brand side and have built and led operations for companies like Steve Madden, Prada and Nice Laundry. We leverage the latest technology to support our high growth brands and their daily operations. Outerspace provides a number of services including, but not limited to, warehousing and fulfillment, customization and light manufacturing, and product photography. 

We are looking for an ambitious, self-driven, and highly organized Supervisor to join our fast growing team. The Supervisor is responsible for leading the warehouse teams in efficient performance and deliverance of premium customer service. You will participate in the training and development of staff, as well as creating processes to optimize performance.

A successful candidate has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is able to effectively lead teams in day to day duties. They have strong problem solving capabilities, and are capable of resolving task-related issues in a timely manner. The candidate is a true leader and team player, who can improve the workflow of the fulfillment center.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate policies to associates and act as the primary information source for the team, maintain compliance, consistency, and taking corrective action when needed
  • Use software to keep records, edit, and manage the inventory flow in the fulfillment center
  • Focus on the productivity, process, and quality of warehouse operations through warehouse KPIs
  • Identify recurring issues in work processes and procedures, and collaborate laterally and interdepartmentally to create improvements
  • Optimize workflow to maximize productivity
  • Report to upper management on stock levels, issues, employee performance, etc.
  • Communicate with the warehouse manager to make critical decisions

People Management:

  • Train / coach new warehouse associates to optimize performance, create organizational depth and individual growth
  • Set and clarify departmental requirements and expectations while creating an environment of safety, teamwork, collaboration and open communication
  • Manage attendance of associates and team leads, including timeclock adherence
  • Motivate team to achieve mutual goals
  • Conflict resolution

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s degree or similar in business administration, operations management, or supply chain management preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in fulfillment center environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Supportive of values following policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of warehouse and inventory management software
  • Excellent organizational & planning skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Able to communicate effectively and take direction
  • Proven track record of taking ownership, driving results, and managing change
  • Able to handle ambiguity, changing priorities, and use good judgment in stressful situations
  • Available to work on weekend, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to stand for most of the day
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Bilingual candidate strongly preferred
  • E-commerce & wholesale experience strongly preferred
