About the Role
This position will act as main customer interface, to provide customer-facing mechanical technical interface support for the pursuit, development, integration, and production launch of Harman’s products into customer vehicles. This includes creating, negotiating, and managing project vehicle integration/scope with assigned customer(s), managing mechanical aspects of loudspeaker design with a global team, customer interface/support. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success with mechanical engineering, customer facing interaction, project management and a knowledge of design and operational systems.
What You Will Do
Responsible for automotive speaker and amplifier packaging check and concept designs. Work closely with customers to support them with mechanical solutions. Work closely with other team members, including PM, ASE, ME, and TE to drive successful project delivery to meet timing, cost and quality goals. Prepare technical reports and presentation.
- Acquire necessary vehicle data from customers to conduct packaging studies
- Develop product concepts based on customer’s vehicle data to check the feasibility of the system architecture from acoustic system engineers
- Provide concept models and technical proposals to customers to optimize the vehicle design based on the packaging study
- Upload vehicle data and concept models into internal systems and inform related mechanical engineers to conduct detail designs
- Be responsible for output of customer drawings
- As a contact window, work closely between customers and internal mechanical engineers during the design phase
- Work closely with PM to track the development process, especially the important milestones, like tooling kickoff and sample deliveries
- Follow up customer complaints and track the complaint solving process inside Harman.
- Provide on-site supports to customers, like design freeze, technical communications, issues follow up, and sample trial assemblies, etc
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 5+ years of working experience related to mechanical design, experience of working in automotive OEMs or automotive component suppliers is preferred
- Working Knowledge of:
- CATIA v5
- GD & T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and other predictive simulation tools
- Plastic Injection Molding, metal stampings, die castings
- Automotive component integration
