Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Software Engineering to join our diverse team of professionals located in Orlando, FL. This position is a role within the Immersive Mission System Department and will report directly to the Software Section Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensures software standards are met.
This requisition is open as a dual level opportunity. We will consider candidates at a level 3 or level 4:
Basic Qualifications:
- Level 3: Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
- Level 4: Bachelor's degree in STEM with 9+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 7 years of experience
- Extensive experience using, administering and developing in a Linux (preferably RHEL9) development environment
- Extensive experience with Java, Spring Framework, C#/.NET Core and C++
- Extensive experience working within formal engineering design, development, integration, requirements analysis, and/or testing processes
- Extensive low-level networking development experience working with TCP and UDP protocols
- Extensive experience developing with Posix Message Queues and shared memory
- Extensive experience developing complex and highly optimized algorithms
- Extensive experience with standard software engineering processes for the development of complex performant systems
- Experience creating XML Schema Definitions (XSD) based on complex interface requirements
- Familiarization with computer networking and cyber security principles and practices
- Gitlab/Git experience and knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) principles
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Apache Daffodil experience
- SELinux Policy Language experience
- Cybersecurity certifications
- Experience with Lab and hardware Integration
Salary Range: $92,600.00 - $139,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
