ABOUT THE POSITION  

The Retail Specialist assists in the effective running of store operationsThis position is responsible for driving store performance and achieving sales goals by providing specialized customer service and direction to a diverse team of associates in their assigned area of responsibility. 

 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE 

  • Leads the day-to-day work of assigned associate-level staff; provides guidance and training to associate-level team members to ensure efficient and effective operations and proper store procedures to support the overall customer experience in-store. 

  • Provides exceptional customer service through knowledge of product features, benefits, and availability; engages with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise, assisting with final purchase decisions. Support Columbia Sportswear Company's values to enhance customer service and teamwork. 

  • Creates and maintains store culture of teamwork; displays a high professional standard of individual behavior leading by example; demonstrates Columbia Sportswear Company values. Supports and ensures associates are trained in Product Knowledge for their functional area. 

  • Collaborates with store leadership team concerning policies, procedures, and standards for assigned area’s store duties. 

  • Performs designated Key holder duties, as needed, which may include opening and closing store duties. 

  • Maintains company standards and policies; ensures that employees to adhere procedures and quality standards; works to resolve any problems or errors. 

 

Performs other duties as assigned: 

  • SalesfloorSupports department and technology training to other associatesPerforms register overrides and assists in driving store KPIs.  

  • Hiring/Training- Assists with training, onboarding, and employee recognition.   

  • Operations- Supports register overrides, managing the lines at the register, efficiency, and timely management of return-to-stock items (go-backs), etc. 

 

 

YOU HAVE  

  • No specific education is required (High School Diploma or GED preferred) 

  • 2 (or less) years of experience in a position or specialization  

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  

  • Knowledge focused primarily on customer service and basic store processes as well as computer applications.  

 

JOB CONDITIONS 

  • Frequently in a more active environment (i.e., requires the ability to constantly move about) that can be physical or strenuous (frequently adjusting/moving items weighing up to 40 lbs.), may frequently use specialized equipment, may have exposure to dust and noise. 

  • Occasionally requires the ability to work in a place. 

  • Ability to communicate with others. 

  • Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, which may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecastsAll local, state, and federal laws are adhered to when evaluating your availability.
