The Opportunity
The Medical Education Manager works with Medical Affairs leadership in fostering the growth and development of Medical Education in Infectious Disease (ID) Business. This is a remote position in Continental US; preference is to someone located near an Abbott office and airport.

The primary purpose of this role is to plan and implement medical education initiatives that align with and drive the business strategy of ID.

The person hired in this role will work closely with Medical Affairs leaders to align Medical Education initiatives that are developed, executed, and measured for HCP engagement and impact. They are also a key player in implementing business needs for Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) to deliver a strategic message for peer-to-peer programs. This person will also manage professional service agreements within the scope of responsibilities.

The Medical Education Manager understands and appreciates key opinion leaders and their role in Medical Education to support patient needs and product innovation for Abbott ID business. They are also responsible for integrating the business needs of ID with the potential talent pool of healthcare professionals in academia, institutions, and professional organizations/societies. In addition, they must be able to effectively communicate to healthcare professionals, foster and support the relationships and recommend approaches to leverage business needs most effectively with healthcare professionals via educational strategies.
In addition:

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and Procedures for Medical education.

  • Provides innovative and creative solutions for Medical Education.

  • Understands key drivers/business impact and value of Medical Education activities.

  • Collaborate with their manager to facilitate periodic review of departmental procedures in response to both internal and external requests, industry standards and updated regulations and technology.

  • Provides ongoing support in process improvement. Implements tools and establishes work processes to enable the Medical Education team to improve communication and the decision-making process with increased focus on critical tasks. Recommends and implements innovative ways to improve project performance.

  • Management of multiple vendors when needed to ensure high quality and timely delivery of collaterals within allocated budget.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree

  • 7 + years of experience in similar role.

  • Travel required, up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Medical Education, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Medical Device/Diagnostics clinical experience is strongly preferred.

  • Has successfully led several high complexity projects with great project management skills.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects as well as effectively influence, collaborate, and communicate with internal and external partners.

  • An outstanding track record of strong communication, presentation, and analytic capabilities.

  • 3+ years of experience in Medical Education or similar roles.

  • Project Management experience.

  • Knowledge in Medical Device/Diagnostics and Infectious Diseases is preferred.

  • Great overall computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft suite of products.

The base pay for this position is

$95,000.00 – $190,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
