As a Data Scientist I with OMES you will enjoy:

  • Full-time 40-hour work weeks.
  • Support the Data Services Team with the Information Services Division.
  • Salary is up to $85,000.00 based on education and experience.
  • Position is on-site in Oklahoma City, OK.
  • At this time, we cannot offer sponsorship now or in the future.

Position Summary

The Data Scientist is responsible for leveraging data analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning to extract insights and drive data-informed decision-making. This role involves collecting, processing, and analyzing large datasets to uncover patterns, optimize business strategies, and develop predictive models both classically and utilizing agentic methods and tools. The Data Scientist will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex data into actionable recommendations, supporting business growth and innovation. Strong analytical skills, programming expertise, and a passion for solving complex problems with data are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop data models, reports, and visualizations aligned with the approved business requirements.
  • Collect, preprocess, and analyze structured and unstructured data.
  • Build models to enhance State and Agency capabilities.
  • Present insights using data visualization techniques.
  • Use various applications and cloud tools to build both classical and GenAI models and solutions.
  • Develop prediction systems and machine learning algorithms.
  • Support State and Agency partners through clear, concise, and honest communication.
  • Deliver data science services following state reference architecture and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer and telephone for a large percentage of the workday. This position requires long periods, up to eight hours per day, of sitting and working at a desk. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least one year of data science work experience or equivalent education beyond a bachelor’s degree.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess

  • Proficiency in statistical and database programming languages.
  • Knowledge of statistics, mathematical techniques, and machine learning methods.
  • Strong communication and data visualization skills.
  • Experience with data science tools and software engineering.
  • Aptitude for analytical thinking and problem-solving.
