Job Description Summary

The Technical Leader of the Steam Turbine Design Engineering at GE Vernova Steam Power India Services in Noida, will play a pivotal role in the design of steam turbines of Upgrades, Core ITR projects and Other OEM reverse-engineering activities. The role involves creating and review of detailed 3D models and releasing manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable standards. You will be responsible for technical reviews, problem solving with customers, vendors and ensure equipment and systems are delivered on time, meeting the highest quality standards, and fully comply with codes, standards, and contractual requirements. The Technical Leader is also responsible for mentoring and guiding engineers.

Job Description

The Technical Leader demonstrates leadership on execution excellence on Steam Turbine Projects and processes for GE Vernova Steam Power India Services Engineering business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and demonstrate the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

The Technical Leader will be responsible for:

  • Lead the design of steam turbine components, including high-pressure (HP), intermediate-pressure (IP), and low-pressure (LP) sections, bearings, flanges, valves, and blading.

  • Lead the design and detailing of various steam turbine components such as casings, bearing pedestals, bearings, rotors, blades, diaphragms, and couplings.

  • Lead the design and preparation of manufacturing drawings for other OEM components based on reverse engineering.

  • Promote technical excellence within the team and support groups through design / technical / constructability reviews participation, lessons learned awareness and application, and technical innovation / growth fostering from tender to end of project engineering.

  • Lead and review appropriate engineering reviews to ensure robust designs that meet all required Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters.

  • Demonstrate excellence in applying fundamentals of Mechanical Design, including material properties, statics, strength of materials, lifing methods related to fatigue (LCF & HCF), and creep.

  • Mentor and guide engineers working in the design team and review the tasks assigned to them.

  • Define material specifications for various steam turbine components.

  • Carry out necessary calculations and analysis related to these components using company software, spreadsheets, or hand calculations.

  • Collect, analyze, and provide resolution on technical data from vendors, sites, or customers.

  • Solve Non-Conformance Reports arising during manufacturing and erection at the shop/site.

  • Ensure GE SQDC Principles are adopted and followed by team members in this specific order.

  • Work closely with Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Global functional Teams, and other stakeholders to define appropriate work plans & priorities that are consistent with the organization and are accountable for achieving the same.

  • Drive common initiatives/metrics such as Life Saving Principles embedded in Design Document, One-Time Delivery, Right First Time, Kaizen, Cost out, Productivity, quality, and lean across the team.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with required external and internal interfaces to ensure that customer requirements are understood and achieved.

  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead projects with high risks and resource requirements. Explain information; develop skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within the field. Convey performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Qualifications / Essential Requirements

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from a reputed Institute.
  • Minimum 12 years of engineering experience in Basic & Detailed Engineering of Steam Turbine Design.
  • Experience in layout design or design analysis of turbo machinery components
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes involved for steam turbine components.
  • Proficiency of CATIA V5and PLMs like RPDM/ PLM /GTCC.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical risks.
  • Able to work to deadlines under pressure while maintaining the safety, quality, and engineering integrity of the solution.
  • Conversant with understanding of processes and handling site challenges.
  • Proven skills in managing and leading a team with a strong technical background.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, experienced in creating and presenting to other stakeholders.
  • Must be flexible with working hours and willing to travel to sites.
