Within Finance, AIG’s Corporate Development team is responsible for the evaluation and execution of strategic transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and minority investments.
About the role
The Corporate Development team is seeking an Associate / Senior Associate to support the evaluation and execution of strategic transactions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to present complex information in a manner that supports executive decision-making. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate excellent organizational and communications skills and the ability to deliver a high-quality work product in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Associates / Senior Associates play an integral role on the Corporate Development team and while day-to-day responsibilities are diverse, core responsibilities include the below:
Responsibilities
Actively support all aspects of the M&A process
Prepare financial models to evaluate strategic transactions; develop valuation analyses based on discounted cash flows, comparable companies and precedent transactions; evaluate pro forma financial impacts under various scenarios
Draft memorandums and presentations for AIG’s senior management, Board of Directors and other key stakeholders
Execute and oversee due diligence processes including liaising with business units, enterprise functions (e.g., legal, tax, finance, etc.) and external advisors
Perform ad hoc financial analysis in support of other strategic initiatives
Support AIG's Integration and Separation Office in transitioning target businesses to future state model including tracking of post-signing deliverables and closing activities
Mentor and train junior resources. Support development of scalable processes and best practices for the Corporate Development function
Monitor financial and operational performance of insurance peers and develop and maintain a deep understanding of emerging trends and industry dynamics
What we’re looking for
A bachelor’s degree is required, with a major in finance or accounting preferred
2+ years of M&A experience (corporate development, investment banking or private equity) with experience executing all aspects of M&A transactions; P&C transaction experience a plus
Extensive understanding of the M&A process and proven track record executing M&A transactions across the entire deal lifecycle
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative abilities with experience performing financial and valuation analysis
Knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry
Executive-level communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) with an ability to communicate to all audience levels
Organizational skills necessary to support / lead multiple projects under strict deadlines
Highly motivated, proactive, performance-driven and team-oriented
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Advanced proficiency with FactSet, S&P Capital IQ and/or Bloomberg
For positions based in NYC, the base salary range is $109,000 - $125,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
