Your New Position:

The Warehouse Leading Hand is responsible for the Warehouse employees, operations and processes of warehouse/inventory, as well as overseeing goods receiving including storing, picking & packing, internal distribution to achieve all department goals and KPI’s.  The Leading Hand must be the face of the Gate Gourmet Core Values and is expected to be constantly evaluating the team output and processes for the continued success of the department.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of the receiving and warehouse/inventory activities to run the business effectively and to ensure all inventory levels are accurately documented and communicated.
  • Monitors and evaluates the safety of each employee on a daily basis and when required coaches and mentors individuals to ensure they follow safe working practices – ie safe lifting techniques
  • Monitor and evaluate the safe unload, receipt, put away and storage of stock throughout the shift including all food safe procedures.
  • Supervise the quality control of incoming goods/material and taking appropriate actions including returns to suppliers.
  • Responsible for daily job assignments of warehouse/Goods Receiving staff as per rosters provided, running daily briefings and executing employee discipline when required as per gategroup work rules.
  • Manage the receipt, counts, storage and return of supplier’s totes and carts ensuring nil loss and cost to Gate Gourmet
  • Supervise the storage, inventory practices (FIFO) and QA put away guidelines according to Gate Gourmet policy and procedures
  • Support in the management of the monthly stocktake process

We are interested in speaking with individuals who possess:

  • Warehousing experience within a food related environment – highly preferred.
  • Experience in supervising a warehouse team.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness skills with the ability to contribute to the wider business process outside the functional responsibilities.
  • Forklift license is highly desirable.
  • Must have strong verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with all Gate Gourmet employees.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills are required, along with Computer literacy.
