What is the opportunity?

The Business Continuity Advisor operationalizes and executes a comprehensive Business Continuity and Risk Management (BCRM) program across Caribbean Banking to support the resilience and continuity of critical operations while maintaining regulatory compliance and adherence to industry standards. You will provide support to all Caribbean Banking business segments, ensuring the businesses meet the maximum level of preparedness and conform to RBC BCRM Standards. This critical role enables Caribbean Banking to effectively recover from disruptions—such as natural disasters, strikes, technology failures, and supplier disruptions—preventing penalties, revenue loss, customer loss, and reputational damage.

What will you do?

  • Oversee BCRM lifecycle activities including Business Impact Analyses, Threat Risk Assessments, Business Continuity Plans, recovery strategies, exercises, and training across Caribbean Banking Business Units, incorporating supplier dependencies and emerging risks
  • Develop and maintain BCRM plans, ensuring implementation of appropriate contingency plans and controls aligned with RBC standards, with regular reviews and updates to reflect operational and industry changes
  • Plan and conduct recovery exercises including work area recovery, contact exercises, and simulations to validate planning assumptions, document lessons learned, and ensure continuous improvement
  • Design and deliver BCRM training and awareness programs, act as a consultant for tactical BCM activities, and provide ongoing support to business units and stakeholders
  • Participate in incident response activities, coordinate with business units and Incident Management Teams using specialized software such as Riskonnect, and act as a liaison ensuring alignment on continuity objectives
  • Support remediation of regulatory issues and internal audit findings, providing documentation and evidence for regulatory and audit requests
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for continuous improvement aligned with client and business strategies

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of experience implementing risk management practices in financial services
  • Strong understanding of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Management techniques and methods for risk analysis and business impact assessment
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and leading practices regarding Business Continuity
  • Knowledge of Caribbean Banking products, processes, organizational structure, and related applications/tools
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with effective communication across all organizational levels
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, research, and quantitative skills
  • Ability to assess operational risks and analyze impact on people, processes, technology, and facilities
  • Ability to assess financial, reputational, legal, and client impact of disruptions
  • Ability to effectively manage variable workload, prioritize work, multi-task, perform under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Expectation to be on-call for emergencies and accommodate flex/shift hours for multi-time zone jurisdictions

Nice-to-have:

  • CBCP certification
  • Experience managing through incidents under rigid timelines
  • Experience with Riskonnect or similar incident management software
