PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Director of Product Management is responsible for driving and managing Warren Rupp’s Product Management and Development team. Responsibilities include owning the NPD process, assisting with M&A strategy, aligning the Warren Rupp overall strategy with the product line and pricing/promotion. This role reports directly to the VP of Business Development and will lead a team consisting of Product Managers and a Pricing Channel Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the NPD process, ensuring the PM team is working on the correct projects and driving to launch. Also, working cross functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure a clear vision across the organization.
  • Develop the product roadmap and the new concept funnel to ensure a steady stream of product concepts are being assessed. This is done to create end user solutions and embrace customer obsession.
  • Engage in direct communication with potential end-user customers to gain in-depth understanding of their businesses, market positions, and requirements.
  • Build a strategy to grow in key markets, aligning with NPD team to fill product gaps and leverage team to focus on the right activities
  • Coordinate with teams in the Emerging Markets to align regional product roadmaps and strategies
  • Identify market opportunities and best practices to engage end users for incremental growth
  • Other duties and responsibilities include:
    • Assisting with annual STRAT planning
    • M&A target assessment and market validation
    • 80/20 implementation
    • Continuous Improvement Events

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous success in product development of manufactured industrial products such as pumps, valves, pipes & fittings, instrumentation, or other adjacent technologies.
  • Strength in people management and communicating a clear vision
  • Experience executing a product strategy
  • Adept at working cross functionally with engineering, operations, and sales
  • Close interaction with international teams and projects
  • Adept at presenting both technical and business-related information to all levels of an organization.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work with and motivate internal and external resources.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 Year College Degree – Engineering, Business or related, MBA preferred
  • 5-10 years related experience required – Product Management, Engineering or Business Development for Industrial products both domestically and internationally.
  • Adept user of Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes.
  • 3+ years as a team lead or managing direct reports

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ideal candidate will be in the Mansfield / Cleveland / Columbus area and able to work a hybrid schedule onsite and remote.  Fully remote work is optional for the right candidate but would include more travel.
  • Frequent travel (25% if in the local area or 40-50% if fully remote)
