Overview of Position 

This job is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and validating standards, disciplines, strategies, and tactics to achieve the overall objectives of the business process controls. The Operational Process Delivery Director will define, develop, and oversee the implementation of business process control initiatives for the benefit of the business unit and their customers. The Director will identify and define new opportunities for operational efficiency and effectiveness through enhanced process controls.

They will develop techniques to ensure the processes and procedures are compliant with all business process standards, using the right people, financial and technical resources to run the process, and delivering quality outcomes as required within the organization. 


What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job? 

Business Control Activities

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of recommended business processes and operational control activities.

  • Analyze the effectiveness of key processes and recommend process improvement.

  • Ensure best practices of internal control standards and business processes are in place.

  • Evaluate control deficiencies and identify methods to improve processes. Work with management to define risk mitigation action plans to resolve process gaps and monitor remediation.

  • Work cross-functionally with other business unit leaders to determine their process control needs and serve as a liaison between the business unit and clients for process control initiatives.

  • Understand the strategic goals and objectives of the business unit and ensure the business is aware of industry, regulatory and business process changes, and their potential operational impact.

  • Actively contribute to an effective sharing of knowledge and best practices within the organization.

  • Assist with the management of projects that will enhance the performance of the business unit to ensure proper controls are developed and implemented.

  • Drafting process ideas to reduce costs and improve production rates.

  • Performing risk assessments.

  • Support colleagues in Finance and work with project teams/Product owners to articulate the product value in accordance with established standards

Internal and External Process Audits

  • Coordinate with clients and external auditors to define control objectives and control activities for SOC reporting.

  • Define resource requirements and coordinate schedules to ensure internal and external audits are conducted with minimal impact to the operations.

  • Review and approve audit reports and remediation actions prior to release to the business unit or clients.

  • Ensure remediation actions are completed according to agreed-upon timelines.

  • Ensure senior management is updated on audits and understands any risks to the business unit or client relationships.

  • Where gaps are identified, work with team to ensure processes are established and regulatory, compliance and quality standards, and corrective actions are completed if required. You will also work with QA and QC managers to implement quality measures where needed.

  • Once changes have been implemented, Process Managers continue to monitor and assess various processes to ensure that they are producing the desired outcomes and will make changes to steps in each process as needed to adjust improvements to reflect better results in production, cost reduction and other targeted outcomes.

  • Quality Assure existing projects to ensure that they meet the standards regarding success criteria, outcomes, and benefits

Team Development

  • Where appropriate, lead the Operational Process Team including staff development and career pathing.

  • Oversee the process improvement implementation process by working with managers, project team members and other employees to ensure that the plan is clear and can be applied quickly and efficiently. Operational Process Delivery Director might often be involved in training or guidance staff across the organization on understanding complex processes and how recommended practices are leveraged.

  • Ensure that team members have the appropriate tools and resources to complete their work assignments effectively and efficiently.

  • Prepare stakeholders for implementations by planning and/or gathering operational requirements, coordinating training for internal or external systems/dependencies, and providing support for questions related to our operation for small change requests for existing clients.

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Assurant’s operations, finance, client relationship, legal and compliance teams.

  • Lead/Facilitate team meetings produce periodic status reports and updated task plans; Identify need for meetings of key project participants; Facilitate team communication, participation, conflict resolution and consensus building.

  • Maximize efficiency of assigned project team through strong leadership, organizational and motivational skills.    Work with team to resolve project team conflicts.

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting AND insurance related experience in Mortgage Servicing/Insurance Tracking and 4 years of process control work.

  • Minimum of 5 years of cross-functional experience in risk management, data management or process management.

Pay Range:

$99,200.00 - $165,600.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
