About the Role

Acciona is delivering critical transmission infrastructure to support Victoria’s renewable energy future. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Lead – Biosecurity, Civils and Terminal Station to provide specialist environmental advice and on‑site leadership across civil works, earthworks, heritage and terminal station construction activities on a major infrastructure project.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring environmentally responsible, compliant and safe delivery through effective implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and associated sub‑plans. Working closely with construction, engineering, planning and heritage specialists, you will support day‑to‑day environmental compliance, risk management and continuous improvement through construction and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist environmental leadership and advice across biosecurity, civil works, earthworks, heritage and terminal station construction activities to support compliant and responsible delivery.
  • Lead implementation and ongoing compliance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and associated sub‑plans, ensuring alignment with environmental approvals, EPRs and heritage legislation.
  • Support and manage heritage compliance, including CHMP obligations and unexpected finds procedures, working closely with heritage specialists and construction teams.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and monitoring, identifying and assisting in the management of environmental risks related to earthworks, drainage, erosion and sediment control, contamination and waste.
  • Support environmental incident response, investigations, non‑conformance management and corrective actions, including preparation of records and evidence.
  • Maintain accurate environmental documentation, registers and compliance records within project EDMS/CDE systems and contribute to audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Provide environmental input into construction planning, methodologies, inductions and toolbox talks, while driving continuous improvement in on‑site environmental performance.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Heritage Management, Archaeology, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in environmental advisory or lead roles within construction or major infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of environmental approvals, EPRs and relevant heritage legislation
  • Demonstrated experience supporting civil works and active construction sites
  • Understanding of erosion and sediment control, earthworks and contamination management
  • Experience managing or supporting heritage compliance and unexpected finds processes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence site teams and contractors
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced delivery environment

Location and conditions

This is a regional role and includes the provision to be based at camp as required.
