As a Senior Engineering Leader at Ridgeline, you will drive the engineering efforts for a key area of our product, cultivating a culture of collaboration while shaping the future of our ambitious fintech startup. In this role, you’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product Management, and Strategy, to design and deliver innovative reporting and analytical solutions to our customers. Your leadership will guide the Reporting team’s engineering efforts, ensuring the delivery of enterprise-grade, secure systems.

What will you do?

  • Oversee and mentor a team of engineering managers and individual contributors, ensuring successful execution across development, testing, DevOps, and project management.
  • Drive architectural decisions that optimize security, scalability, and performance.
  • Build and maintain a diverse and inclusive technical team adept at solving complex problems.
  • Lead career development conversations, aligning individual goals with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management and Strategy, to define and execute the vision for the Reporting organization.
  • Foster strong relationships within a multi-location organization.
  • Guide architectural and technology decisions, contributing domain insights and technical expertise.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for a distributed architecture, data model, infrastructure, security, and quality.
  • Lead the software development lifecycle from conceptualization to deployment, support and maintenance, while continuously optimizing processes.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable environment that encourages growth, fun, and innovation.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years in software engineering or architecture, with management experience leading both managers and individual contributors.
  • Proven track record of building SaaS solutions.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin (or Java), Python, Docker, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and get hands-on with code when needed.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and architectural patterns.
  • Willingness to learn about cutting-edge technologies while cultivating expertise in a business domain/problem space.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience with lean and agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with recruiting and building high-performing software development teams.
  • History of successful projects utilizing cloud environments and technologies.

Functional Experience

  • Experience in designing and supporting both real-time operational and analytical reporting within enterprise platforms.
  • Proven ability to architect high-throughput, low-latency query engines for large-scale, transactional data environments in real-time or near real-time contexts.
  • Professional experience in financial services domains, including Portfolio Accounting, Performance Reporting, CRM, or Trading, with an understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of scalable data modeling and architecture for complex financial datasets.
  • Proficiency in implementing microservice-based reporting engines that are scalable, resilient, and well-integrated within distributed systems.

Compensation and Benefits 

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

The typical starting salary range for this role is: $235,000-$275,000. 

The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is: $250,000-$287,000.

Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.
