Essential Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to work from written and verbal instructions, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, work orders, vendor manuals and manufacturer’s specifications to accomplish assignments.
  • Sets up and operates a wide variety of specialized and precision machine tools and complex CNC equipment.
  • Fabricates, repairs and /or modifies tooling, fixtures, jigs, cams, punches and dies, prototype components, and special types of cutting tools such as complex forming tools, rifling broaches, gun boring reamers and rapid bore heads.
  • Perform functional and operational tests of reworked and repaired equipment.
  • Use measuring devices, instruments, test fixtures, and special tools, as required to accomplish assignment.
  • Investigates problems situations and makes responsible recommendations for improvement in quality plans and manufacturing procedures.
  • Applies a comprehensive knowledge of machining operations and metal cutting processes to determine the feasibility and acceptability of complex items, initial setups and production of components.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, factory managers, engineers, and other associates.
  • Independently manage multiple tasks, solve technical problems, lead projects, and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate regularly with management and other functional groups to ensure understanding of needs.
  • Initiate, participate, provide training (e.g., problem solving) to effectively complete improvement efforts.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

The work requires frequent standing, walking, and bending. In addition, the work requires frequent lifting and carrying of equipment weighing up to 45 pounds.

Typical office environment with no usual hazards. This position has constant sitting/standing while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Work from written and verbal instructions, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, vendor manuals and manufacturer’s specifications to accomplish assignments
  • Must have a working knowledge of a wide variety of machine shop procedures, techniques, and advanced math as well as a high degree of skills.
  • Must have knowledge of forgings, castings, heat treatment, and welding.
  • Use measuring devices.
  • Independently manage, multiple tasks, solve technical problems, and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain logs, charts, and records as required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
