Everest is a leading global Reinsurance and Insurance organisation with extensive product and distribution capabilities, a strong balance sheet and an innovative culture. Throughout our history, Everest has maintained its discipline and focus on creating long term value through underwriting excellence and strong risk and capital Management.
At Everest, we believe that our future is determined by the actions we take today. Everest’s value commitments include: providing an inclusive work environment that offers employees the opportunity to further their development, supporting our communities through the donation of time and financial resources, maintaining our integrity across all aspects of the group, and being an industry innovator to solve global complex risks.
Why join:
Everest Insurance International Wholesale & Specialty (IW&S) is part of a global group. IW&S consists of Everest Syndicate 2786, Everest Insurance (Ireland) DAC (EIID), and Everest Insurance Singapore (EIS).
It is an exciting time and an excellent opportunity to be joining IW&S as the business focuses on developing and growing its wholesale and specialty book, investing in teams and systems under a global strategy. The Actuarial Function is instrumental in supporting and influencing the business and longer-term ambitions, with significant investment and wider Group collaboration in establishing a best-in-class actuarial set up.
The way IW&S is structured provides ample opportunity to make a tangible impact on the day-to-day and future direction of the actuarial department, and personally play a critical role in its strategy, establishing and growing the IW&S actuarial capabilities and business partnering.
Role Purpose:
As Deputy Head of Actuarial Function, you will assist in the management, leadership and oversight of EIID’s actuarial team while also playing the role of a senior leader across the wider International actuarial team. Your role will entail robust oversight and collaboration to ensure the accuracy of technical provisions, capital modelling (SCR and ORSA) and contribute to the Actuarial Function Report and Opinions. Strong management skills to support the team and positively influence wider stakeholders is critical.
This role will manage the day-to-day operations of the actuarial team, with support and oversight from the Head of Actuarial Function/Chief Reserving Actuary (based in the Dublin office). In addition to playing a key role in enhancing the team’s capabilities, the candidate will have responsibility for owning and developing key aspects of the Actuarial team’s processes, stakeholder management, business reporting, capital setting and contributing to the strategic direction of the actuarial team.
The role is broad with exposure to a wide network of business stakeholders (finance, underwriting, claims and operations) and other actuarial functions (e.g. pricing and performance management), project development and quarter/off-quarter activities. The successful candidate will work with autonomy in a supportive and encouraging environment. This will be suitable for someone looking for a steep learning curve and being empowered to take ownership and make an impact on the business.
