Department Overview:
TDBG spends around $8B each year with vendors. Strategic Sourcing Group’s (SSG) role, in collaboration with our business partners, is to create sustainable competitive advantage for TDBG by leveraging this third party spend and the expertise of our key suppliers to meet our needs, reduce total cost, and mitigate supply-related risks. Our role is global in scope and we have just embarked on a journey to transform the way we do sourcing, purchasing and vendor management within our department and more broadly across the organization. Our team is comprised of ~200 people who are in various TDBG locations across North America.
Job Accountabilities:
CUSTOMER
Develop and implement Global category strategies employing category management and best practices
Develop and lead implementation of category and strategic sourcing strategies that support TD and business partner needs and objectives as well as help to mitigate risks to business and TD
Ensure effective delivery of SSG services to business partners and prompt and thorough resolution of all business partner issues
Provide guidance on outsourcing governance best practices and provide counsel to business to ensure supplier arrangements meet all TD policy and regulatory requirements
Contribute to the development and execution of the supplier transition activities, governance programs and management programs
SHAREHOLDER
Work closely with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD’s operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale
Plan and execute on strategic activities, review and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly
Execute on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies
Manage overall budget, revenue and expenditures, meet business objectives while increasing efficiency and effectiveness
Proactively identify key business opportunities, research and recommend enhancements / modifications, develop strategies to achieve recommendations and work closely with team to execute and implement
Monitor and communicate the effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices related to own area of expertise
Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
Ensure employees are knowledgeable; and assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct

Focus on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION
Post-Secondary Education
10+ years of related experience
At least 7+ years of experience in people management
Strong leadership and coaching experience
Experienced sourcing practitioner, understanding of best-practice sourcing methodology with a deep understanding of contract terms and contractual language
Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings through effective implementation of sourcing strategies
Demonstrated influencing, communication, strong negotiation and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong project management skills
Strong commercial acumen and business judgment
Self-starter who can take ownership and accountability and lead projects independently
Proven capabilities in operating in very fast-paced , results-driven environment;
