SAP BI Developer
This role offers extensive opportunities to drive enterprise-wide data transformation initiatives, supporting all business units and functions across a global organization. The SAP BI Developer will play a critical role in modernizing legacy SAP BW landscapes to BW/4HANA and enabling next-generation analytics through SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
The developer will work in a global BI Dev team, collaborating with business stakeholders, data analysts and engineering team to deliver scalable, high-performance SAP data analytics solutions and ensure successful migration and adoption of modern SAP BI platforms.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Follow enterprise DT delivery processes (EPP standards) to prioritize, track, and deliver outputs.
- Partner with Data Analysts, Project Leads, and Business Leads to translate business requirements into SAP BI solutions using BW/4HANA and SAC.
- Support the existing BW models and reports on any queries and enhancements.
- Develop new BW reports as per business requirements.
- Support the Planning models on SAC & DSP.
- Lead and execute SAP BW to BW/4HANA migration activities, including:
- System conversion, landscape transformation and migration
- Data model conversion (InfoCubes → ADSOs, Composite Providers)
- Code conversion (including ABAP routines, BW transformations, process chains)
- Design, develop, and optimize BW/4HANA data models, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with enterprise data architecture.
- Develop and enhance SAP HANA-based data flows, including transformations, DTPs, and process chains.
- Lead future’s migration of legacy reporting (e.g., BW/Bex/ Qlik) to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC):
- Rebuild dashboards and stories in SAC
- Ensure functional parity and improved user experience
- Validate data consistency during migration
- Design and implement SAC dashboards, planning models, and data visualizations aligned with business KPIs.
- Ensure strong data governance, data quality validation, and reconciliation throughout migration and implementation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Databricks and Qlik, etc.) to integrate SAP and non-SAP data sources.
- Follow enterprise DT delivery processes (EPP standards) to prioritize, track, and deliver outputs.
- Develop and execute testing plans in collaboration with business teams and address the defects.
- Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot BW, BW/4HANA and SAC issues and optimize performance.
- Recommend and implement enhancements for reporting, data models, and migration approaches.
- Manage transport processes and deployment across SAP landscapes.
- Maintain timely communication with DT analysts and business clients regarding progress and updates.
- Develop and deploy Automic (UC4) batch jobs for data loading.
- Transition/Land completed solutions to BI Supporting team with full documentation, knowledge transfer, and post-go-live support.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required; Information Technology or related major preferred
- 5+ years of experience in SAP BI/BW development, with strong hands-on expertise in:
- Proven experience in end-to-end BW/4HANA migration projects
- Strong experience in:
- Data modeling (ADSO, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views)
- SAP HANA optimization techniques
- Hands-on experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), including:
- Story/dashboard development
- Data modeling and connections
- Migration of legacy reports to SAC (strongly preferred)
- Experience working with SAP ECC/S4HANA data sources and understanding business processes (FI/CO, SD, MM preferred).
- Experience integrating SAP with external platforms (e.g., Databricks, Qlik) is a plus.
- Familiarity with other SAP tools such as:
- SAP ECC
- SAP HANA Studio
- Transport Management
- SAP Data Services
- Experience with Qlik is a plus.
- Experience with Data Lake(Databricks) is a plus.
- Experience with Advanced Data Analysis (Machine Learning, AI) is a plus.
- Strong oral and written English language communications skills.
- Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing concepts, and data governance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with experience working in cross-functional, global teams.
