Position Summary

The Polineni laboratory studies non-CFTR modifier effects of cystic fibrosis (CF) pathophysiology in cystic fibrosis airway epithelia in cell-culture models. Blood and airway samples from patients are utilized to analyze innate and epithelial immune responses to inflammatory stimulations using techniques including cell purification, cell culture, microscopy, metabolomics, gene expression analyses and large data set (omics) analyses. Techniques in the lab include molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and, as above, large data set (omics) analysis. We have multiple collaborations with computational and other scientists to take complementary approaches to our questions in CF pathogenesis.

Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with any of the following: Molecular biology, PCR, cell culture, cell culture with in vitro stimulations, ELISA, microscopy, gene expression analyses, RNA sequencing.
  • Prior experience in cell culture techniques and large data set analysis.
  • Prior experience in immunology, molecular biology, or related fields.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative fashion.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Prism. 

Required Qualifications

Candidates with prior experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and/or cell biology with at least a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to apply.
