The Admissions Coordinator I serves as the key point of contact for academic processing in the School of Nursing, collaborating closely with administrators, faculty, and staff. This position oversees admissions for all Bachelor of Science in Nursing tracks, including off-campus instructional sites. Primary responsibilities include coordinating admissions processes, conducting degree completion audits, and maintaining accurate student academic records.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, demonstrating enthusiasm, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage ambiguity and multiple priorities with ease.

Reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Nursing, this is a full-time, 12-month position based on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Requires the ability to teach and/or work remotely at the University’s discretion.

Essential Job Functions:

Provide general information about all nursing tracks offered to prospective undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

Guide prospective students in admission requirements,

Design and manage the Nursing Central Application Service tools,

Maintain records and a database of prospective candidates for the programs,

Assist with the admissions process, including candidate application reviews and credentials,

Present group information sessions and admission workshops for prospective students and their families,

Attend recruitment fairs held at high schools, other colleges and universities, and various healthcare agencies,

Provide academic support and guidance to prospective and current students in all tracks leading to a BSN in the SON.

Verify completion of degree requirements and submit appropriate adjustments to the Office of the Registrar as necessary,

Advise students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns and determine possible courses of action,

Works collaboratively with College and University units to identify resources for academic or other types of support.

Coordinate with appropriate committees and staff to support the SON total program evaluation plan and external accreditation requirements.

Assist with the evaluation of the admissions process and academic support programming.

Create and maintain a database of current and prospective learners to assist various committee recommendations for admission, progression, and retention.

Required Education/Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Three years of related experience

Preferred Education/Work Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or health science education field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience in higher education or health science education

Required Knowledge/Skills/Attitudes:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of functions of Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience

Commensurate with experience with a target base salary range of $47,000 - $51,700 negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
