Position Summary: 

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Computational Scientist to join our innovative team at Flagship Labs 101 (FL101). In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in computational biology to develop novel methodologies and algorithms, furthering our understanding of complex biological systems. As part of our mission-driven team, you'll contribute your quantitative and computational skills to reveal novel and differentiated targets in a variety of disease areas. This role offers the opportunity to significantly influence our scientific and technical trajectory, working in a dynamic, early-stage environment in close collaboration with experimental scientists. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and validate preclinical target discovery models leveraging multimodal data. 
  • Analyze and interpret single cell sequencing data. 
  • Contribute to a cooperative software development environment through Git usage, engagement in code reviews, and individual development of reliable code. 
  • Contribute to experimental design and product development decision-making. 

Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in computational biology, statistics, bioinformatics, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience applying quantitative approaches to solve biological problems. 
  • Proficiency in programming with Python and working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred). 
  • Energetic self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a startup environment. 
  • Exemplary analytical skills and ability to synthesize & communicate complex information rapidly and effectively. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Some experience with machine learning, particularly with transformer models. 
  • Strong background in research methodologies related to target prioritization. 
  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. 
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and containerization. 
  • Breadth of experience with accessing, analyzing, and curating large-scale biodata resources 
  • Expertise in oncology target discovery or validation.
