ROLE SUMMARY 

This individual will be the Legal Lead for Pfizer Brazil (the largest market in terms of revenues in Latin America), directly responsible and accountable for all legal matters in Brazil. Member of Brazil´s Leadership Team (LT). Will provide strategic counseling to the Country President (CP), PGS and their leadership teams. Will manage a team of attorneys/contractors and outside counsel. This position reports to the Sub-Cluster Legal Lead for South LATAM. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Brazil´s Legal Department.

  • Member of Brazil´s Leadership Team.

  • Provide strategic counseling to CP, PGS Lead, LTs and Business and Divisional Leads.

  • Successful management of all local Corporate and IP legal matters as well as oversight of Commercial, Contracts, Labor, Criminal, Environment, Privacy, Litigation, etc.

  • Legal support to Brazil´s Manufacturing Plants (PGS).

  • Minimize company´s exposure to future labor and commercial litigation.

  • Primary point of contact for all local legal matters.

  • Provide innovative and business oriented legal advice to business initiatives and innovative partnerships.

  • Active participation in International and Global internal committees.

  • External participation and networking on relevant committees, e.g., IP and/or Legal committees (Pharma Industry Associations).

  • Successful management of attorneys/contractors, budget and outside counsel.

  

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Licensed to practice law in Brazil.  

  • Minimum of 17 years of experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. 

  • Significant and broad experience advising on IP, Corporate, Manufacturing, Contracts and Commercial matters.  

  • In depth understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. 

  • Ability to cultivate strong client relationships and build credibility. 

  • Strong business acumen and execution over perfection mindset. 

  • Strategic and pro-active. Anticipates needs and able to prioritize quickly.  

  • Role model for ethical and open/clear communication & people skills at all levels of the company. 

  • Good judgment in escalation and sharing of issues to peers and management. 

  • Credible and respected by clients and peers. 

  • Demonstrate experience and success in managing and working within a complex matrixed environment. 

  • Leadership skills: role model in the Legal Division and capable of helping to drive the culture and teamwork spirit. 

  • Management skills: track record in developing people and dealing appropriately with performance issues and managing without authority. 

  • Possesses a high energy level, sense of urgency, decisiveness, ability to work well with teams and under pressure. 

  • Leader that embraces Diversity & Inclusion. 

  • Fluent in English with strong written and oral communication skills. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Spanish and Portuguese desirable.
