Role Definition

This role will support the advancement of automation projects across Caterpillar’s Asia-Pacific region. The ideal candidate is expected to have solid experience in computer vision applications, including but not limited to visual measurement, defect detection in manufacturing environments, OCR / text recognition for quality control and product traceability, etc.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Deliver and support AI-based inspection projects in manufacturing environments.
• Develop and deploy computer vision solutions for defect detection, visual measurement, and OCR applications.
• Support system integration with automation equipment and quality/traceability systems.
• Optimize model performance and ensure stable operation in production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and automation teams to drive project success.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in AI vision inspection, industrial automation, or manufacturing-related AI projects.
• Solid understanding of end-to-end industrial vision system architecture, with hands-on experience in camera, lens, and lighting selection and setup.
• Proficient in image acquisition and calibration processes.
• Ability to independently deploy end-to-end AI vision inspection solutions, from data collection and model training to system deployment in production environments.
• Strong Python programming skills, with hands-on experience using mainstream AI / machine learning frameworks.
• Capable of integrating AI model outputs with downstream systems, enabling deployment within business systems or industrial applications.
• Demonstrated project management capability, including coordination across functions and delivery against project timelines.

Additional Information:

The position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
