An opportunity to play your part – As a Technology Product Developer within the Hive Team at Centrica, you’ll dive into an exciting role where you’ll create and maintain the front-end code for various customer journeys within the Hive estate, primarily using Next.js and TypeScript. You’ll thrive in an agile/SCRUM environment, collaborating with a dynamic and highly skilled team. Your day-to-day will involve performing code reviews to ensure top-notch code quality, writing and maintaining a suite of unit and automated UI tests to guarantee system robustness, and continuously enhancing existing functionality to ensure peak performance.

The day to day –

  • Join the Hive Team at Centrica as a Technology Product Developer and immerse yourself in a dynamic and innovative environment. You’ll be at the forefront of creating and maintaining the front-end code for various customer journeys within the Hive estate, primarily using Next.js and TypeScript. Thrive in an agile/SCRUM setting, collaborating with a highly skilled team to deliver top-notch solutions.
  • You’ll play a supporting role in solution architecting and breaking down larger pieces of work, take part in refining and scoping upcoming sprint work, and perform spikes/investigations into innovative technologies and integrations to assess the viability of future projects.
  • You’ll be accountable for delivering assigned tickets promptly, reviewing teammates’ work to ensure it meets high code quality standards, and ensuring that contributions to releases are performant and free of significant issues.
  • Collaboration is key, as you’ll work with stakeholders in other teams, such as product, to address any issues or new developments. You’ll also work with other business teams to ensure integrations are seamless and APIs are aligned, and partner with the Service Management team to investigate and resolve customer issues.
  • Leadership is a crucial part of the role. You’ll mentor junior team members, guiding them through tasks and challenges, and utilize your experience with object-oriented languages, design patterns, and multi-threaded development to lead by example.

About you –

Join the Hive Team as a Technology Product Developer and dive into an exciting world of innovation and creativity! We’re looking for passionate individuals with:

  • Proficiency in ReactJS and at least one other JavaScript framework.
  • Strong skills in TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Familiarity with Git or other distributed version control systems.
  • Experience with test frameworks like Jest and Cypress.
  • A background in agile/SCRUM environments.
  • Expertise in designing robust, highly scalable systems.
