Job Summary: 

As a Senior Innovation Design Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the innovation solution within the organization. You will be responsible for transforming validated idea concepts from the initial stages into comprehensive, detailed solutions. This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that the final design meets all requirements and specifications. 

Responsibilities: 

Receive and Review Validated Idea Concepts: Analyze and evaluate the validated idea concepts received from the previous stage of the innovation project to ensure they are ready to detail solution design. 

Deliver Detailed Solution Blueprints: Develop comprehensive solution blueprints that accurately reflect the initial concept, ensuring all aspects of the solution are thoroughly planned and documented. 

Design the Solution in Detail: Create detailed designs for the solution, encompassing services, digital products, operations, and other relevant components, ensuring all elements are well-integrated and functional. 

Formulate Business Models and Revenue/Cost Structures: Develop robust business models and detailed revenue and cost structures to support the solution, ensuring financial viability and sustainability. 

Generate Mock-ups/Prototypes for Validation: Create high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes to visually represent the solution, facilitating validation and feedback from stakeholders. 

Conduct Experiments to Validate Designs: Perform experiments and tests to validate the desirability, feasibility, and viability of all customer-oriented designs, using data-driven insights to refine and improve the solution. 

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with business units, discovery, solution and design agency to refine and finalize designs, ensuring all perspectives are considered and integrated into the final solution. 

Create Detailed Design Documentation: Produce comprehensive design documentation, including high-level specifications, diagrams, and other necessary materials to support the building and communication of the solution. 

Present Design Solutions to Stakeholders: Present detailed design solutions to stakeholders, incorporating their feedback and securing gate review approval to proceed to the next stage of the project. 

Qualifications: 

Language: 

  • Fluent Japanese and English speaking 

Educational Background: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. 

Experience: 

  • 5+ years plus user centric design experience, with focus on addressing pain points 

  • Equipped with an open and user-centric mindset. 

  • Proven experience in a solution design role or similar capacity, with a strong design portfolio demonstrating successful projects. 

  • Experience in creating detailed design documentation, including specifications, diagrams, mock-up and prototypes. 

  • Familiarity with business model formulation and financial analysis 

  • Knowledge/experience of design research, insights, ideation, and experimentation (Human Centered Design, Complex Problem solving, Lean Start-up, etc.) . 

  • Be a champion for different ways of working and create an environment that fosters creativity   

  • Act as a key enabler in building a strong culture and driving the disruptive innovation agenda - obsessed with solving for user pain points   

  • Understanding of the healthcare ecosystem with project experience, (understanding and project experience of Japan healthcare ecosystem will be a plus) 

Technical Skills: 

  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma). 

  • Strong understanding of digital product design, service design, and operational processes. 

  • Experience with mock-up and prototype creation for validation purposes. 

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: 

  • Excellent analytical skills to evaluate idea concepts and develop comprehensive solutions. 

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address design challenges and ensure feasibility and viability. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Strong communication skills to present design solutions to stakeholders and incorporate feedback. 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business units, engineers, and other designers. 

Project/Vendor Management: 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with vendors simultaneously and meet deadlines. 

  • Experience in conducting experiments to validate design desirability, feasibility, and viability. 

Travel availability: 

  • Up to 30% travel is acceptable.
