What Is the Opportunity?

The Sr. Analyst, Actuarial and Analytics is an entry level analytic role that encompasses the personal ownership of operational assignments which may include reserving, reinsurance, rate-making, pricing, regulatory filings, planning/forecasting, project management, CAT modelling, ERM and research. The individual in this role is expected to be a team player and have a desire to learn and develop.

What Will You Do?

  • Strategy:
  • May participate on strategic projects with execution responsibility for assigned project sub components.
  • Execute solutions for assigned project sub-components.
  • Execute work thoughtfully and efficiently as a team member.
  • This position may participate on cross-unit initiatives in a limited manner.
  • Operational:
  • Refresh basic actuarial and analytic analyses with a high level of supervision.
  • Support unit initiatives.
  • May create process efficiencies within assignments with guidance.
  • Provide support as necessary for initiatives within Canada or across the Enterprise within the scope of influence.
  • Communication:
  • Communicates progress, findings and results to manager.
  • Begins to understand actuarial, analytical and financial discussions and may participate in the conversation during meeting.
  • Talent:
  • Onboard new employees and interns in unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • University degree in STEM related field.
  • Basic PC skills (MS Office), basic programming skills (eg. SQL, SAS).
  • Related internship or prior work-related experience preferred.
  • Leadership:
  • Initial development of Leading Self, exhibiting self-awareness and seeking opportunities to learn.
  • Business Acumen:
  • Has a developing understanding and knowledge of the basic key business drivers and functions such as: underwriting, products, reinsurance, distribution, sales, operations, risk control, claim, and financials.
  • Able to utilize this business knowledge to assist in the development of analytic solutions.
  • Relationship Management:
  • Begin to develop working relationships with primary working group.
  • Generate and share ideas with primary working group when prompted.
  • Quantitative Analysis:
  • Begin to access data and tools and perform basic analyses.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required.
