The Role: Research Analyst, Sugar/Softs, Agribusiness Research - We are seeking an Analyst able to develop and drive our analytical services across the soft commodities markets, with a strong focus on sugar.

The Team: we are a team of experienced analysts with diverse backgrounds based all over the Globe covering all continents and the developments in soft commodities. We value diversity and teamwork; its crucial that you are a team player in order to be successful whitin our organization.

The impact: S&P Global CI is looking for an Analyst able to develop and drive our analytical services across the softs/sugar markets. The role will be focused on building on S&P Global fundamental research and forecasting models, which are a core part of our service. Our customers represent a wide range of activities across the commodities and energy industry and, as a result, our analysis is reviewed and challenged from many different perspectives.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will combine an understanding of the S&P Global Research business and industry expertise. They will also be able to work well in a team, be highly self-motivated and able to execute independently when required.

  • Identifying mechanisms and methods to support and further develop our industry-leading sugar analytics

  • Harness existing data sets, identify new data sets for collection and analysis and conduct rigorous reviews of the quality of that information

  • Demonstrate a dynamic approach to learning and a passion for the industry  

  • Create compelling content that helps our core readership make better-informed trading, risk management and investment decisions

  • Deliver succinct, high-quality written content

  • Engage with customers and potential customers, demonstrating expertise and acting as ambassador for S&P Global’s pursuit of analytical excellence

Requirements:

  • Experience in agriculture markets (5 years), with a particular focus on sugar.

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including concise written style; and presentation skills.

  • Willingness and ability to anticipate and respond to customer needs and market changes. Ability to provide insightful analysis to the market in compelling and straightforward content

  • Strong customer mind set with demonstrated ability to engage directly and honestly with customers and deliver positive experience by creating a partnership mentality  

  • Proficient in identifying, gathering, and analyzing information to solve problems effectively. Ability to recognize trends and provide recommendations and develop logical conclusions. Knowledge of mathematical, statistical and modelling concepts and research methods would be beneficial

  • Strong Excel skills. Experience with power modelling tools useful but not essential
