This position has the global responsibility to develop and mature a company-wide center-led procurement capability, including the development of enterprise strategy for a given category of spend.  This also includes being the key owner of developing and recommending Category & Supplier Management Strategies, including supplier identification, supplier certification, supplier onboarding, and category governance, supplier contract management, and supplier performance management. The role will lead negotiations, manage supplier relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver value and innovation.

Principle Duties:

Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Global Category Sourcing Strategies, including:

  • Category Strategy – Develop and execute category sourcing strategies to align with business objectives

  • Contract Negotiations – Lead supplier negotiations, manage relationships, ensure strong performance, innovation, and value from strategic suppliers.

  • Market Intelligence & Benchmarking – conduct market research to understand trends, the competitive landscape, and internal customer preferences to inform development of a multi-year strategy

  • Implementing Center-Led Category Governance Model - Establish Governance Model that is consistent, transparent, and efficient; Creating consistent and repeatable workflows that provide an enhanced level of control & governance; Unifying data by creating a centralized Supplier Inventory; Leads a multi-year category improvement plan in support of the strategy; Establishing a process to manage ongoing relationships with Suppliers; Drives collaboration and process improvement by creating intuitive processes and tools; Enhances visibility through feedback loops

  • Stakeholder Management - Develops and maintains relationships with senior functional leaders to further develop and mature their supply strategies. Responsible for expanding & coordinating with additional departments and regions where procurement support is needed. Communicates and educates stakeholders on procurement policies, practices and abilities to increase awareness and engagement.

  • Value Tracking - Track and evaluate category performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement across the category and implement corrective actions

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) In Procurement/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Business Administration, etc preferred

Work Experience:

  • 10+ Years experience in global procurement organization (5+ in a center-led structure) required

  • 5+ Years Category Strategy, Sourcing, or Supplier Relationship Management required

  • Business process re-design experience required

  • Experience with modern sourcing and procurement systems required

  • Financial Services/Insurance industry experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Motivate and influence others within organizational hierarchy and among differing cultures. required

  • Ability to work with senior management to develop an improved control environment required

  • Solid operational management and general business skills and savvy. required

  • Strong negotiation skills required

  • Familiarity with relevant and emerging legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions. required

  • Demonstrated ability to develop & implement category playbooks after building relationships across appropriate stakeholders required

  • Demonstrated ability to develop long range supplier relationships. required

  • Proven sourcing and cost reduction strategy development. required

  • Benchmark and scorecard development to drive continuous improvement. required

  • Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management, etc. required

  • Knowledge of global supplier regulations including third party requirements preferred

Compensation Range:

$126,710.00 - $188,840.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
