Computed tomography (CT) technologists use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients’ internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT scan technologist must be able to accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. 


A caregiver in this position works Evenings, from 2:00pm--10:30pm.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Perform computerized tomography procedures to aid in diagnosing disease or injury.  

  • Prepare/educate patients for CT exams.  

  • Assess patient's clinical history.  

  • Adjust techniques and protocols on equipment to correspond to patient habitus and pathology. 

  • Research lab values for patient and inject contrast under the direction of Radiologist as required (bolus or power injectors). 

  • Perform exams and transfer results from the CT console to Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS). 

  • Observe patients constantly and respond to any adverse reactions to ensure safety. 

  • Work with referring physicians to ensure the correct exam is ordered and performed for the patient. 

  • Oversee maintenance of equipment to ensure full calibration and complete functioning. 

  • Keep abreast of new developments in field by attending appropriate meetings/seminars and reviewing current literature to maintain required state of Ohio and AART continuing education credits. 

  • Proficiently transfer to other modalities as qualified and/or needed, utilizing proper exam protocols and injection procedures. 

  • Comply with Radiology Information System and PACS entry requirements for accurate patient, film, and supply tracking monitors. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.  

  • Maintains applicable certification, licensure and registration 

  • Assist and support the Radiologic student program by providing supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures, reviewing images with students and providing quarterly evaluations.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.  

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.  

  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists.  

  • Current license by the State of Ohio as a Radiologic Technologist.  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • One year of CT experience.  

  • Two years of diagnostic radiology experience to be eligible for on-site training in CT scanning.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
