Job Summary: 

The primary responsibility of the Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator is to oversee the activities of the purchasing and inventory control department and manage the inventory of materials for the Maintenance Operations Center and dock locations within Tampa Bay. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Purchase supplies, materials, and parts for the company
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability
  • Develops and maintains inventory database for materials using Fleetio system
  • Access supplier websites to purchase items
  • Negotiates with vendors for optimal cost on bulk purchases
  • Maintains purchase orders in Fleetio system
  • Collaborates with operations leaders to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control department
  • Communicates with suppliers and logistics partners to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale
  • Collaborates with Maintenance Operations Center leaders to purchases large and complex items
  • Develops and implements best practices related to purchasing and inventory control with a goal to maximize efficiency and optimize workflow
  • Communicates with operations leaders for orders received at the Maintenance Operations Center
  • Maintains inventory counts and organization of inventory at the Maintenance Operations Center
  • Delivery of purchases to dock locations as needed
  • Completes reporting and inter-office journal vouchers for accounting
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of marine parts preferred
  • Experience utilizing engraver and label maker preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adhere to a budget and to monitor and reduce expenses
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as inventory software such as Fleetio

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with coursework in purchasing and/or inventory control preferred
  • At least one to two years of buying or purchasing experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Boating safety ID card preferred
  • Vessel livery operator’s certification preferred
  • Forklift certification desirable

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • May be asked to travel to visit vendors or different company locations
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with exposure to fumes and chemicals
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to pull, lift, carry, squat, twist, kneel, and reach
