Job Description:

The Sales Tax Coordinator position is responsible for assisting with all sales and use tax related compliance and tax system maintenance for the company.  This position reports to the Sales & Use Tax Manager. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to customer, vendor and intercompany sales and use tax questions and requests including determination of sales tax exemption eligibility, issuance/acceptance of exemption certificates where appropriate and approve/process related account corrections and setup
  • Assist with maintenance of tax software system including updates, investigation of initial tax issues,  and troubleshooting ERP interface issues
  • Assist with external tax audits and SOX compliance procedures
  • Support sales and use tax accounting and reporting process as needed (return preparation, general ledger account reconciliations, review/prepare use tax accruals, etc.)
  • Perform tax research regarding taxability of transactions
  • Work extensively with large amounts of tax data in Excel performing data analytics and creating reports
  • Help create and maintain sales tax process procedures and tax matrices
  • Provide feedback and input for department process improvements
  • Special projects as assigned

This position requires an ability to work independently, using an eye for details and analytical skills to problem solve in a deadline driven, dynamic environment.  Successful candidate is a team-player, with a passion for learning and improvement that will provide professional, knowledgeable, and motivated customer service to both internal and external customers.  The qualified candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred (will consider equivalent experience)
  • 1 - 5 years sales/use tax experience (multi-state in corporate tax environment preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-look ups, etc.)
  • ERP system (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.) and Vertex (O-series, Returns) experience a plus
