What you'll do...
As a Backend Engineer specializing in Java for the Checkout division of the Transactions Team at Walmart, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the retail transaction experience for millions of our customers. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and implement robust server-side logic for the checkout process.
In this role, you will be the backbone of our transaction process, ensuring that every customer enjoys a seamless, efficient, and secure checkout experience. Your work will directly impact the speed and reliability of transactions, contributing significantly to customer satisfaction and the overall success of Walmart's retail operations.
About Team:
Our team creates reusable technologies to help with customer acquisition, onboarding, and empowering merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for both of these stakeholders. We also optimize tariffs and assortment in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost philosophy. We not only create affordability, but we also deliver customized experiences for customers across all channels - in-store, mobile app, and websites.
What you'll do:
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, and backend logic using Java frameworks such as Spring Boot. Develop and optimize database schemas, write complex queries, and ensure data integrity with knowledge of cosmos D Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic, providing a seamless user experience from product selection to order completion. Build reusable code and libraries for future use, contributing to the development of an efficient codebase that can be leveraged across different parts of the transaction process. Optimize the application for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring the transaction process, from checkout to payment confirmation, is quick and efficient. Implement security and data protection measures to safeguard customer information during all stages of the transaction process, including payment processing and personal data handling. Design and implement data storage solutions to effectively manage transaction data, ensuring accurate record-keeping and easy retrieval of transaction details. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to meet organizational goals, improve the transaction process, and enhance customer satisfaction. Work closely with the QA team to identify and fix bugs, ensuring the reliability and stability of the transaction process. Collaborate with the DevOps team to ensure smooth deployment and operation of the transaction process. Stay updated with emerging technologies and apply them to improve the transaction process.

Qualifications:
Proficient in Java, with a solid understanding of its ecosystems. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns. Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java. Familiarity with MVC, JDBC, and RESTful concepts. Experience with popular web application frameworks. Ability to write clean, readable Java code. Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application. Basic understanding of the class loading mechanism in Java and the workings of JVM. Experience with automated testing platforms and unit tests. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git. Familiarity with build tools such as Concord, Looper, Maven, and Gradle. Familiarity with continuous integration.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
