Job Description:

Coordinator Trauma Nurse

Participates in the development, coordination, and monitoring of trauma treatment, policies, and procedures within the hospital, local area, state, and region. Coordinates all facets of care, including policies and procedures, documentation, and data collection/synthesis to ensure continual readiness for State Trauma Survey. Provides leadership, training, coaching, mentoring, and hands-on support to the organization by meeting tactical and strategic goals.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Oregon
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 6 month grace period
  • American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the one (1) year grace period
  • Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) or equivalent, or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the three (3) month grace period
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or an Associate’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience with commitment to attaining an appropriate degree within a negotiated period of time
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and/or Trauma Certified Register Nurse (TCRN), or obtain within two (2) years of hire

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum three (3) years direct patient care emergency nursing experience within past 10 years
  • Recent (within past five (5) years) experience in management of a trauma program preferred

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
  • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
  • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
  • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
  • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
  • Requires significant use of personal computer
