Job Summary:
We’re looking for a Digital Creative Marketing Lead to help take the email marketing at BJ’s Wholesale Club to the next level. And not just now, but continuously into the future. Must be eager to find new and exciting ways to engage our 5mm+ membership base. Must be hungry to help grow this list. And must continuously seek to optimize and evolve the look, feel, and functionality of all outgoing brand communications—no matter the platform.
Officially, the Digital Creative Marketing Lead will be responsible for managing a cross functional team of developers, designers, writers, and other creatives behind this exciting work. You’ll lead all front-end creative development for email, as well as push notifications, SMS, and any potential future digital mediums. You’ll be expected to work highly collaboratively with the Email Operations team, as well as other digital and integrated marketing departments. Must be proficient in HTML coding, have a strong sense for design, ability to execute on strategy, while maintaining brand standards, and ensuring quality and consistency across multiple delivery platforms. Must have 10+ years of experience managing email marketing in this, or a similar industry. This role will report to the Group Creative Lead who will provide creative direction and set goals for the Lead and the team.
Responsibilities:
- Will oversee creative team to lead content development for email channel, using best practices, while ensuring content and tone of voice is on brand and consistent in look and feel.
- Create, maintain, optimize and troubleshoot email templates to ensure accurate rendering across browsers, ESPs, and devices.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive and effective email campaigns.
- Provide teams with the necessary tools and training to implement new email tactics.
- Ability to own end-to-end creative process; managing from initial brief process through execution.
- Understanding of email marketing, customer journey mapping, personalization and how email interacts with other channels to improve the customer engagement.
- Must be a process and detail-oriented problem solver who provides clear direction and maintains clear communication with others about the work and results.
- Demonstrate innovative thinking and smart risk taking.
- Drive continuous improvement across email; critical metrics including deliverability, open rates, click-to-open rates, conversion rates, opt-out rates, and revenue.
- Ensure compliance with email marketing laws and regulations.
- Collaborate on testing agenda for A/B and multivariate testing frameworks for email design, layout, and subject lines.
- Will work to balance workload across the team, including process and efficiency optimizations.
- Utilize HTML/CSS and email marketing best practices to create and code engaging content.
- Place an emphasis on customer segmentation, testing protocol, and technical execution.
- Establish a process for eliminating inconsistencies and minimizing errors.
- Remain flexible and prepared to immediately address last-minute changes.
- Work with Email Operations to set up, test, and launch complex email campaigns with dynamic content.
- Guide creative team on the techniques needed for developing strong concepts.
- Remain current on industry trends, digital technology, coding languages, and programs.
- Perform coding and database tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Strong management skills to lead and coach team, while guiding the work to align with higher-level creative direction for the brand and on-going campaigns.
- 10+ years of experience with advertising agencies, design firms, or in-house creative departments.
- Expertise in email development.
- Proficient in responsive email design and front-end development.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of HTML/CSS.
- Experience with JavaScript, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Adobe Campaign or equivalent.
- Experience with email testing programs such as Litmus.
- Working knowledge of SQL and AMPscript.
- Experience with Liquid, jQuery, PHP, and Analytics a plus.
- Knowledge of email compliance regulations: CAN-SPAM, GDPR.
- Familiarity with email marketing and marketing automation technology.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and versatility.
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $98,500.00.
