Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing expert guidance related to system-level initiatives aimed at implementation of evidence-based clinical best practices in all regions of Intermountain Health. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of the Healthcare Delivery Institute (HDI), the leader heads up the Clinical Best Practice Integration (cBPI) team within HDI. The leader works closely with project leaders and project teams within Intermountain Health Clinical Program. The leader is also a a key member of the HDI leadership team – providing input on strategic and operational decisions and collaborating with leaders of the other key departmental functions.
The role is hybrid and will require travel to areas where Intermountain conducts business. Candidates who live in, or are willing to relocate to, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, or Montana are preferred.
Essential Functions
- Management of the cBPI support function. Manages and oversees all aspects of the cBPI team’s support for processes related to best practice implementation initiatives. This support includes providing expert consultation throughout the lifecycle of initiatives on principles of quality improvement and Intermountain Health’s cBPI methodology.
- Staff supervision. Provides direct supervision to caregivers on the Clinical Best Practice Integration (cBPI) team, including recruiting, making assignments, setting performance expectations, providing support to caregivers, providing performance feedback, developing caregivers.
- Relationship management. Builds and maintains excellent working relationships with Clinical Programs leaders, other HDI leaders and caregivers, leaders of key support functions, Intermountain executives and other Intermountain Health caregivers with regard to improvement initiatives and related matters.
- Strategy and program Improvement. Works with the cBPI Team as well as other HDI and Clinical Programs caregivers to continually evaluate the effectiveness of the cBPI methodology and the team’s support for best practice initiatives. Proactively identifies and implements improvements and innovations.
- Education. Serves as a faculty member and course leader for the Advanced Training Program in Clinical Quality Improvement (ATP). Provides input on curriculum. Prepares content. Presents material through didactic lectures and by facilitating group discussions and activities. Provides direct coaching of course participants. Provides guidance and support for other ATP coaches. Serves similar educational functions with regard to other HDI educational offerings as needed.
- Departmental leadership. Serves as a member of the HDI Leadership Team under the direction of the AVP of the Healthcare Delivery Institute. Provides input on strategic and operational decisions. Collaborates with colleagues to promote a culture of excellence within the department and excellent relationships with teams and individuals outside the department.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
- Extensive knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical quality improvement in a variety of settings, hospitals and clinics.
- At least 10 years of experience leading or supporting clinical quality improvement projects, including projects aimed at implementing clinical best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical training
- Experience working as a clinician and/or leader of clinicians
- Master’s Degree in a field related to clinical quality improvement and/or clinical best practice
- Experience as the supervisor or manager of a department or unit of a healthcare organization
- One or more certifications and/or diplomas related to QI
- Experience presenting on QI initiatives in conferences or similar venues
- Experience serving as an author or coauthor on QI-related journal articles
Physical Requirements

- Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$77.50 - $119.68
