About the Role

The Associate Director, Agency Distribution (East Malaysia) is the regional head responsible for the end-to-end sales management, growth, and productivity of AIA’s agency force across Sabah and Sarawak. The role drives key metrics including VONB, ANP, Active Agent/Active Ratio, MDRT, and leadership development indicators. Success requires field leadership, data-driven decision making, collaboration with Agency Leaders, and cross-functional alignment to deliver sustainable business growth.

• Own East Malaysia’s agency P&L drivers and deliver KPIs including VONB, ANP, Active Agent/Active Ratio, Active New Agent, MDRT, MDD/MDA.
• Translate national strategies into regional execution plans to maximize productivity and VONB growth.
• Lead quality recruitment programs, embedding segmentation strategies and Elite Academy digital ecosystem.
• Drive MDRT culture through coaching, performance cadence, and recognition platforms.
• Execute strong field rhythm, including branch visits, joint fieldwork, and issue resolution.
• Use data dashboards for recruitment, activity, conversion, and persistency management.
• Collaborate with Operations, Agency Records, Recruitment, Compliance, Legal and Actuarial teams.
• Adapt distribution strategies to Sabah and Sarawak markets with focus on inclusion and reach.
• Build ethical, high-performance culture aligned with AIA governance and leadership essentials.
• Own regional forecasts, budgeting, and best-practice sharing with peer regional heads.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance; AMII/ACII/AAII preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience in life insurance/agency distribution with proven regional leadership.
• Track record delivering VONB/ANP growth and agency productivity at scale.
• Strong capability in recruitment, segmentation, field coaching, and digital adoption.
• Excellent stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Malaysia’s insurance landscape, particularly East Malaysia dynamics.
• Experience building MDRT-level advisor culture is an advantage.
• Multilingual ability preferred; English and Bahasa Malaysia required.
• Extensive travel across East Malaysia (branch/market visits, agency events).
• High integrity, resilience, and a growth mindset aligned to AIA’s purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.
