Kelso Building Services is seeking an experienced HVAC Project Sales professional to drive commercial project revenue across the Wasatch Front and surrounding Utah markets. This role focuses on selling turnkey HVAC solutions, including design-build systems, retrofits, and energy-efficient upgrades.

We’re looking for someone who combines technical HVAC knowledge with strong sales execution, and who can work directly with building owners, facility managers, and contractors to develop and close project opportunities.

About the Role

This is a field-based, project-focused sales position responsible for identifying, developing, and closing commercial HVAC opportunities. You will play a key role in expanding our project pipeline while ensuring solutions are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with client goals.

Success in this role requires the ability to self-generate opportunities, manage longer sales cycles, and collaborate across engineering and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Pipeline Growth

  • Build relationships with commercial clients, general contractors, and decision-makers across Utah
  • Identify opportunities for system replacements, retrofits, upgrades, and new construction projects
  • Develop and maintain a qualified project pipeline through proactive outreach and networking

Solution Development & Sales Execution

  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate equipment condition, system performance, and customer needs
  • Recommend turnkey HVAC solutions, including design-build and energy-efficient upgrades
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals outlining scope, pricing, timelines, and ROI

Project Coordination

  • Partner with engineering, estimating, and project management teams to ensure accurate design and execution
  • Support projects through the sales-to-operations handoff to maintain client expectations
  • Track project progress and maintain alignment between client and internal teams

Market & Performance Focus

  • Stay current on Utah market conditions, energy standards, and HVAC technologies
  • Meet or exceed annual project sales targets and margin goals
  • Maintain accurate pipeline visibility and activity tracking within CRM systems

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial HVAC project sales or mechanical sales experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, equipment, and retrofit/replacement strategies
  • Proven ability to develop and close project-based opportunities (not just service sales)
  • Experience working with contractors, facility managers, and building owners
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and longer sales cycles simultaneously
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel within Utah

Preferred

  • Experience with design-build or plan/spec project sales
  • Familiarity with Utah commercial construction and facilities market
  • Background in energy efficiency upgrades or high-efficiency system solutions
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, business, or related field

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary + commission
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Ongoing technical and professional development

Who We’re Looking For

  • Professionals who can speak confidently about HVAC systems and project solutions
  • Salespeople who own their pipeline and consistently generate new opportunities
  • Individuals comfortable selling in a relationship-driven, competitive Utah market
  • Candidates motivated by performance-based earnings and long-term growth
